Planning a trip to Hawaii? You want to get out of Waikiki and explore the beautiful north Shore of Oahu? Maybe you want to stay on the North Shore during your vacation on Oahu? Well, to be honest, there are not a lot of options. However, we are happy to show you some of the best places to stay on the North Shore of Oahu.

VIDEO Places to Stay on the North Shore

Turtle Bay Hotel – Direct Beach Access

The Turtle Bay Hotel is the only luxury resort on the North Shore of Oahu. It has hotel rooms and bungalows to rent. The renovation of the hotel will be done in summer 2021. With the upgraded rooms the hotel will be worth the money again. Guests of the hotel have direct beach access.

Activities at the Turtle Bay Hotel

The surf spot next to the hotel is loved by locals and is also a good spot for beginners. There is a Hans Hedemann Surf School in the Hotel if you like to sign up for surf lessons. You can rent bikes, play tennis and of course use the professional golf courses at the Turtle Bay Hotel.

The pool of the hotel is big and has two jacuzzis. You can lay at the pool and overlook the ocean on the other side. Don’t forget to grab a drink at the pool bar – the Bloody Mary is amazing!

The hotel has a few restaurants, a spa and a gym.

How much does it cost to stay at the Turtle Bay Hotel?

The Turtle Bay Hotel is the most expensive hotel on the North Shore of Oahu. A night at the Turtle Bay Hotel costs at least $450.

Courtyard Marriott – A good alternative

The Courtyard Marriott in Laie on the North Shore has more a feel of a business hotel. It is a great alternative if you plan on staying just a few days.

Beaches close to the Courtyard Marriott

There are several beaches close by. However, the hotel is not situated directly at the beach. If you don’t mind a 7-10 minute walk to the next beach, this hotel is for you. But be aware, the famous North Shore beaches like Sunset Beach, Turtle Beach or Waimea Bay are about 20-35 minutes drive by car.

Activities at the Courtyard Marriott

The Courtyard Marriott has a gym and a pool. The pool has a jacuzzi. It is not a huge pool, but hey, you are on Hawaii and the beautiful ocean is only a few minutes away. Who needs a pool, right?

Food & Drinks at the Courtyard Marriott North Shore Oahu

There are no restaurants at the Courtyard Marriott. You can find a cafe and a few snack machines close to the front desk. The hotel is located next to the Polynesian Cultural Center. There is a marketplace with lots of food places at the Polynesian Cultural Center and there is a McDonalds right next to the Hotel…. Please don’t… 🙂

Only a few minutes away you can find lots of local restaurants. Enjoy the local food while you are on vacation on Hawaii.

How much does it cost to stay at the Courtyard Marriott on the North Shore?

One of the major PROs of the Courtyard Marriott on the North Shore is the price. For just $195 per night you can stay in a nice room.

AirBnB North Shore – Your best bet?

There are a lot of AirBnB’s on the North Shore of Oahu. Some of them are way cheaper than the hotels. You can also rent a whole house right on the beach for thousands of dollars per night if you like.

If you want to explore the North Shore of Oahu and you really just need a place to spend the night, AirBnB might be your best bet. Rates start as low as $75 per night!

Great locations to stay on the North Shore of Oahu

Trying to figure out the best location for an AirBnB on the North Shore?

One of the most convenient locations is Pupukea. Sunset Beach, Sharks Cove, Waimea Bay – some of the most popular beaches and surf spots of the North Shore are located close to Pupukea. If you like it a little less country try to find a place close to Haleiwa.

Where to eat on the North Shore?

You can find a lot of Food Trucks, local restaurants and, for people with a small budget, grocery stores in Pupukea and Haleiwa. If you are looking for fresh Poke and Kalua Pork, make sure to swing by the food trucks in Kahuku. Our friend Izy has the best Kalua Pork on the island. You can’t miss him. Just look for the giant Samoan laughing and talking story. Visit the Kahuku Superette for great Poke Bowls.

If you want to stay a little cheaper and don’t mind that you can’t buy alcohol in the stores, Laie might be a good place. Lots of Mormons live in Laie, that’s why you can’t buy alcohol at the stores there. The next store selling alcohol is only about a 5 minute drive away though.

Important if you plan to stay on the North Shore of Oahu

We highly recommend to rent a vehicle at the airport or in Waikiki. Without a car it is a hustle to get to the North Shore. To explore the North Shore of Oahu you should rent a car. If you plan to explore the whole island and check out the best places on the North Shore, we are happy to show you around.
