Duke’s Waikiki

If you did your research, you have a whole list of places to eat when you’re in Waikiki. And we’re sure Duke’s Waikiki will probably be on it. But why is Duke’s Waikiki so popular? One thing is that Instagram did it. Another is that this bar is actually “the only real beach bar in Waikiki.” Because of its location, tourists and locals love this place.

Only real beach bar in Waikiki

Duke’s Waikiki is a beach bar located directly on the beach. It may seem like a given, but it’s actually unique in Waikiki. What’s more, you won’t even have to pay overly much for the spectacular ocean views. This bar is somewhere in the price middle. The food here isn’t overpriced and you can get there breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast buffet – If you are an early bird, you can come here to eat early in the morning. Breakfast is served buffet style from 7am to 11am. For $23, you can come here and choose whatever your heart desires. Eggs benedict, omelets, pancakes or sausages. Plus, tons of fresh fruit from local growers.

Location: 2335 Kalākaua Ave #116, Honolulu, HI 96815

Duke’s Waikiki Hula Pie

This place you can also know for its famous hula pie. A delicate Hawaiian dessert that you must try on your Hawaii vacation. Hula Pie is made with macadamia nut ice cream piled high on a chocolate cookie crust and topped with chocolate fudge, whipped cream, and more macadamia nuts. Sizing is for sharing, but rarely goes unfinished!

Who is Duke?

Why is this place called Duke’s Waikiki? Because this is the exact spot where one of Hawaii’s legends of all time – Duke Kahanamoku – grew up. Great Olympic swimmer and the father of surfing. In 1929, Duke rode a monster wave for 1 1/8 miles at Waikiki, likely the longest ride in modern times. That makes the Duke’s Waikiki a place with a story.

Why people love Duke’s Waikiki?

Simply because for a good price you’ll get a wonderful meal in a pleasant environment and in true Hawaiian style. This place tries to give off the aloha spirit and there’s always something going on. On top of that, you can come here every Sunday to hear live music from well-known local musicians. Be sure not to miss this place during your vacation to Oahu.
