Our Top 5 Beach Cafes and Bars in Waikiki – Summer is coming up and what better way to spend the sunny days than sit outdoors and enjoy the beach. What makes a great beach bar? Of course, aside from a good ocean view, we mean picture perfect sunset (and after-sunset), cozy ambience, and a creative selection of food and drinks. We share with you our top 5 beach bars in Waikiki!
Barefoot Beach Cafe
Located south of Queen’s Beach, across Kapiolani Park, this is ‘Waikiki’s best beach cafe’ according to Lonely Planet. More of a beachside cafe rather than a ‘bar,’ they have a nice selection of beautifully looking breakfast plates (servings are huge). Grab a French toast, eggs Benedict or waffles and sit close to the water. Live music starts at 5:30pm.

*Oh and note, Barefoot Beach Cafe is different from the Barefoot Bar at Hale Koa Hotel!
Tucked in the center of Waikiki, with unobstructed views of Diamond Head and killer sunsets, Sheraton’s beachside lounge is known for its unique aloha cocktails. They have an impressive selection of rum-based cocktails, I guess hence the name ‘rum’fire! You can chill out and enjoy their oceanfront views with a selection of local beers, too.

Duke’s Barefoot Bar
Located on the ground floor at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach, this bar has it all. Named after the Hawaiian surf legend Duke Kahanamoku, Duke’s is a Waikiki mainstay for both tourists and locals alike. Enjoy watching surfers and beachgoers till sundown as you sip on your 3rd serving of Lava Flow (look for Davy – he makes the best!) If you make it all the way to dessert, don’t forget the Hula Pie – a huge serving of macadamia nut ice cream on chocolate cookie crust, drizzled with hot fudge, topped with toasted macadamia nuts and whipped cream. The pie is so famous it has its own page on their website – Hula Pie at Dukes Waikiki. We recommend: Share!
