Best of Waikiki: Take a Walk Through Paradise

Waikiki is one of the top tourist spots on Oahu. You’ll see so many sights in just a short walk. Follow along and check out the beautiful and historic destinations that make up the best of Waikiki.

Moana Surfrider Resort

First up on our walk is the Moana Surfrider Resort, which was built in 1908— more than 40 years before Hawaii joined the United States. You’ll see a statue of Duke Kahanamoku, who is a Hawaiian hero, an Olympian, and is known as the father of modern surfing. He invented the swimming style called “the stroke”.

While this is a fine beach, there are nicer beaches to see on Oahu. To check them out, look through our tour offerings.

Beautiful Banyan Trees

Banyan trees are a unique feature in Hawaii, although they are not native to the islands. These trees were imported from India, but they have flourished in their new South Pacific home. This fig species grows when its seeds land on other trees, which is why this species is sometimes called a strangler fig.

Breakfast in Waikiki

As the beach wakes up, it’s a good time to talk about delicious breakfast options that make up the best of Waikiki. Eggs and Things is especially famous, as is the buffet at Duke’s Waikiki. For $18, you can chow down on fresh fruit, sausage, rice, and other delicious choices.

Be sure to stock up on calories for the day, because there are many Waikiki activities that will take up your energy.

Waikiki Weather

No matter what time of year you visit, you’ll find the daytime high in Waikiki is typically in the mid 80s—even on rainy days. temperatures at sea level rarely dip into the low 70s. These temperatures are possible November through March, and if you come during this time, you may see locals in hoodies or ugg boots. But besides that, the weather is uniformly warm.

Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel

Diners who want to watch the sunset can grab a beach facing table for dinner at Tiki’s Grill and Bar in the Astin Waikiki Beach Hotel. You’ll enjoy delectable barbecue and a lovely view of the palm trees and ocean. This is one of the restaurants recommended as the best of Waikiki.

Queen’s Beach

Queen’s Beach is now a volleyball beach, and used to be the site of Magnum P.I. When these episodes first aired, they would be shown at this beach before it aired on television. The stars would join and everyone would party.
