Waimea Falls

Firstly, one of the most beautiful waterfalls on Oahu you can find on the North Shore. It’s 45-feet tall and located in the heart of Waimea Valley. The hike to Waimea falls is one of the less challenging ones. The 3,5 mile distance is hiked most of the time on a flat and groomed trail. Also, you’ll feel like you’re in Jurassic World – the trail is located outside the botanical gardens. You can even swim in the waterfall as a reward.

Admission fee to Waimea Valley: $25 per adult

In the small historic town of Haleiwa, you’ll find several places to sample shave ice. The most famous is Matsumoto’s Shave Ice.

Snorkeling Shark’s Cove

Another affordable fun thing to do is snorkeling in Shark’s cove on the North Shore of Oahu. It’s one of the best snorkeling spots in the world. You can see colorful fish and sea turtles here. Shark’s cove is a small cove starting with a shallow area, so the snorkeling here is family friendly as well. However, you won’t see sharks here, though. It is named like that because of the shape of the reefs around the cove, which resembles a shark.

How cheap it is: snorkeling and the nearby parking lot are free
