The pause of tourism was needed. Before Covid-19 in Hawaii, more than 10,000 tourists per day visited the bay. As of right now (December 2020), no commercial vehicles are allowed at Hanauma Bay. This means, that the bay will not be as crowded as it used to be.

How do I get to Hanauma Bay?

Hanauma Bay is about 25 minutes drive from Waikiki by car. The bus ride from Waikiki to Hanauma Bay takes more than twice as long. Taking the bus from Waikiki to Hanauma Bay takes more than an hour.

When is Hanauma Bay open?

Hanauma Bay opens at 8am and closes at 4pm. IMPORTANT: As of now, Hanauma Bay is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Before you enter the beach, you have to watch an educational video about the bay and how you can protect its beauty.
