Coconut Marketplace

On Kauai’s East Coast, you can attend a free hula show hosted by Coconut Marketplace and even learn a thing or two yourself.  The hour-long entertainment takes place in the outdoor amphitheater that forms the centerpiece of the marketplace. Leilani Rivera Low, an award-winning kumu hula (hula teacher), leads the dance performances here. Live Halau Hula ʻO Leilaniʼ performances can be seen here twice a week. They are suitable for adults and children. The entire hula show is accompanied by live music using traditional Hawaiian instruments. In addition, they offer half-hour lessons in Polynesian hula dance steps for only $25. Check out the Coconut Marketplace website for more info.

Every Wednesday & Friday at 5:00 p.m.

Poipu Shopping Village

Another place to enjoy free live luau is Poipu Shopping Village in the south of the island. Organizers promise an unforgettable journey through more than a thousand years of rich tradition. The star of the show is well-known Hawaiian musician Keola Worthington, who, in addition to singing, will share humorous stories or other Hawaiian tales from the past. A 30-minute performance inspired by Tahitian and Hawaiian culture will be performed by the award-winning gracious girls of the Hula School, Halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leina`ala.

Every Monday and Thursday at 5pm.
