When the original run of Hawaii Five-O ended after twelve seasons in 1980, it was the longest-running police procedural drama in American TV history. Fox’s North Shore takes place primarily within the grounds of the luxurious Resort on the North Shore of Oahu. The show is about the lives of the hotel’s staff, primarily Jason Matthews. Hawaiian-born Jason Matthews runs the hotel as the assistant manager and makes sure every guest gets everything they need.
4) Gilligan’s Island (1964–1967)
This iconic 1960s sitcom follows the antics of seven shipwrecked castaways stranded on a deserted island. The actions in the show take place at Coconut Island, less than a quarter-mile from Kaneohe Bay on Oahu. Likewise, some scenes were filmed throughout the island of Kauai.
5) The White Lotus (2021 – present)
The White Lotus is a social satire in the form of a comedy-drama series. The show outlines the lives and interactions between both guests and staff at a gorgeous tropical resort in Hawaii. Over the week, however, darker undertones are slowly revealed in the details of each of the vacationers’ lives.
The White Lotus was an instant success, prompting a quick renewal for a second season that will feature a new group of travelers on a new White Lotus property.
