Shopping
Spend the day shopping! On Oahu, there are many malls and shopping centers where you can spend the day shopping, eating, and relaxing.
Our top 3:
1. Ala Moana Center
The Ala Moana Center is the world’s largest open-air shopping center. Located in Honolulu, and just a few miles from the famous Waikiki Beach, there are over 366 stores and restaurants. To see them all, you might just need more than a single day with rain in Hawaii.
2. Ward Village
A slightly smaller mall, just a few miles from the Ala Moana Center you’ll find the Ward Village. There are a variety of shops and restaurants in the surrounding area to suit all tastes. Ward Village is also home to a multiplex cinema and a fantastic arcade. Disadvantage in the rain: The shops are partially over the street, so you are not always in the dry.
3. Waikele Premium Outlets
The Waikele Premium Outlet is the only Outlet Center on the island: who wants to make good deals, should drive here. You will find stores like Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph Lauren and many more. You can either travel there by regular bus for $2.75 (price 2018) or book a round trip on the Roberts Hawaii Waikiki Shuttle for $18 (price 2018).
These are the three best examples in or around Honolulu. Of course there are many shopping centers in other parts of the island. You want more examples? Then write us on Facebook!
Activities in Hawaii
In addition to shopping, there are of course other activities for your day in the rain in Hawaii.
1. Arcade Ward Village- Dave & Buster
The game hall is located in Ward Village (shopping no.2). There are many different games, such as video games, sports games (throw basketball) or billiards. Here you can’t only play games but also watch football or get food or enjoy the happy hour with cocktails in the restaurant. A good activity for children and adults.
2. Indoor mini golf
Playing mini golf in the rain? No way- in the Windward Mall in Kaneohe you can play indoor mini golf in black light. For children under 6, a game with 18 Holes costs $ 5 (price 2018) and for adults $ 7 (price 2018). All players also get a glow bracelet.
3. Honolulu Museum of Arts / Iolani Palace
You prefer to use the day for some culture? Then head to the Honolulu Museum of Arts or visit the only royal palace in the US, the Iolani Palace.
The Honolulu Museum of Arts is free for children up to 18 years, adults pay $ 20 Admission (price 2018). Tip: Take a look at the event calendar of the museum – there are all-year events, performances, tours and exhibitions!
Iolani Palace is the only royal palace in the US and a good place to learn more about the history of Hawaii. There are several options for your visit: There are normal audio tours for $ 20 per adult (children $ 6), guided tours from $ 27 per adult (children $ 6), evening tours for $ 38 per adult (children $ 10) and Special VIP evening tours for $ 150 per adult (children $ 50).
