Hilton Waikoloa Village

Today, we’re taking you to the stunning Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island of Hawaii. In this article, we’ll explore whether this iconic resort is worth a stay. So, let’s dive right in!

Dolphin Encounter Programs

Hilton Waikoloa Village brings people and dolphins closer than ever in fun, interactive dolphin encounter programs for all ages. This unique experience is one-of-a-kind on Hawaii’s Big Island and is great for kids, adults, or the entire family!

Pools with Slides

The other important feature of this resort is its multiple pools with slides, which make it an ideal choice for families with kids. The little ones will have a blast splashing around while the parents relax under the warm Hawaiian sun.

Pool Bars

Another advantage is the availability of multiple pool bars, offering a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Sipping a refreshing drink by the pool is the perfect way to unwind and enjoy your vacation.

Transportation Amenities

Additionally, the resort offers a train ride that makes it easy to travel from one side to the other. It’s a convenient mode of transportation, especially if you have trouble getting around or simply want to take a scenic ride.

Another unique experience here is taking a boat ride through the resort. It’s a fun and convenient way to explore different areas of the property, and it adds a touch of adventure to your stay.

Cons of Staying Here

Now, let’s discuss a few drawbacks to consider. One downside is the price of drinks at the pool. Be prepared to spend around $18 for a cocktail, which can add up if you plan on enjoying a few.

Another con we encountered during our stay in June 2023 was the limited breakfast options. There were only two small cafes offering takeout breakfast. So, if you prefer a more extensive morning meal, you might want to explore other options.

Lastly, to fully explore the Big Island, it’s recommended to have a rental car. Although the resort offers various amenities and activities, having a car allows you the flexibility to venture out and experience the island’s natural wonders at your own pace.

Overall Experience

Yes, Hilton Waikoloa Village is on the pricier side, but we felt well taken care of throughout our stay. The rooms were up to date, the beds were comfortable, and toiletries and towels were provided.

If you’re looking for dining options outside the resort, there’s a marketplace just a 5-minute drive away, offering a variety of restaurants and shops. It’s a great opportunity to taste the local cuisine and explore the surrounding area.

Keep in mind that the resort is approximately 40 minutes from Kona, 1 hour and 20 minutes from Hilo, and around 2 hours from Volcano National Park. So, having that rental car we mentioned earlier will make it easier to explore the beautiful island of Hawaii.
