Kualoa Regional Beach Park is about one hour and fifteen minutes drive from Waikiki. Mokolii, is the Hawaiian word for the little island, meaning “little lizard”. Hawaiian stories say the spike is the end of a lizard’s tail. Whatever you want to call it, it sure is beautiful to look at. The beach is honestly not one of the prettiest in Hawaii, but the big beach park is filled with locals on the weekend. The beach park is great for BBQs and family gatherings.

From the top of the stairway, you can view the beautiful valleys and beaches of Oahu. As we said before, this hike is illegal and off-limits but remains an amazing experience. There is a legal back-way that leads to the top of the stairway to Heaven.
